Spirits to Stock
Liquor
Your liquor stock really depends on what you plan to serve. Assuming that you will want to make the most common cocktails, this is a basic list to make the most. The liquor store would love to see you coming if you were to completely stock your bar. I suggest that you start with some basics and add to your stock as you experiment with different drinks. Check the recipe collection for drinks you might want to make for additional selections. Brands are your choice and they depend on your taste and budget.
Bourbon
Brandy
Gin
Rum
Scotch
Tequila
Vodka
Whiskey
Amaretto
Irish Cream
Creme de Cacao
Triple Sec (Cointreau)
Kahlua
The above is meant as a starting point to allow you to make the basic drinks. Other spirits such as Peach Schnapps, Drambuie, Melon Liqueur, Flavored Vodkas and such can be added when you find recipes that you would like to experiment with.
Beer
Depending on how many guests you invite, beer is an essentail! Light varieties, as well as IPAs, and maybe some good imports or Micro-Brews are great choices.
Wine
Stocking wine really depends on your budget and what you plan on serving as food. White or blush wines go well with lighter foods. Reds contain tanin, so the health conscious people may prefer a glass of a dry red. Reds are best for heartier foods.
