Eat Your Cocktails
Jell-O shots have always been popular as party treats. They are great in team colors for Super Bowl parties and other themes. But, isn't it time we took one of our favorites and civilized it just a bit to enjoy any time we need a great dessert instead of waiting for a party? They are perfect for entertaining, as they can easily be made ahead of time and they are new refreshing, and just in time for summer coolness, or any time you need a light dessert!
I played with recipes all one day and had a blast trying different cocktail recipes and combinations. I came up with four pretty good ones that you see here.
It is easy to make plain old Jell-O shots. You can use just about any cocktail recipe and modify it to make a dessert if you are willing to make a few mistakes along the way. The rule of thumb is to keep the alcohol lighter than you would for a shot. They make a larger serving and are meant to be light, not overpowering. Add canned or fresh fruits, and flavor your whipped cream with the liqueur that is predominant in your recipe.
These recipes make four to six servings depending on what size glasses you use. Don't use champagne flutes, as you need to get a spoon inside of these. But, the fancier the glass, the prettier they get!
If you want to get really fancy, prepare the Jell-O mixtures in bowls and once they are set, alternate layers of whipped cream and Jell-O cocktail to make a parfait!
